You’ve heard of “tweets”….welcome to “blipps”…

The Pixel Pancho mural (above) created through our Colour The Capital collaboration with Global Street Art attracted the attention of Blippar, a firm using image-recognition technologies to open up creative possiblities in advertising, consumer engagement, and education. The technology works through a smartphone app which scans an encoded image (known as a ‘blipp’) into which is embedded photos, videos, web links, and other multimedia content.

We’ve worked with Blippar as part of their ‘What Is Community?’ campaign to create a ‘blipp’ which uses an image of the Pixel Pancho mural; once scanned this opens up material about his work as well as information about Global Street Art and ourselves. The 3-D effect that blipps create is very striking, and we’re continuing to work with them to create more ‘blippable’ stuff!

You can view and scan the Pixel Pancho blipp here (scroll down the page). To activate the blipp you’ll first need to download and install the Blippar app, available for free from the relevant iPhone and Android app stores.

Welcome to a whole new world….
