Introduction
Forest Recycling Project (FRP) is a social enterprise and charity with environmental and social aims. We engage with organisations and communities in North East London through a range of practical initiatives to reduce, re-use and recycle waste, and help people live sustainably. Based in Walthamstow in East London, we have been in operation since 1989. All our work and activities are supported by volunteers. Our turnover is around £250k. We have a small staff team of 7 people (most of who work part-time), with additional freelance support.
FRP has received funding from City Bridge Trust to develop its volunteer programme. The Environmental Action Through Volunteering Project (the project) will enable people in areas of high deprivation to take environmental action through volunteering, deliver structured learning and progression opportunities, and promote social inclusion for volunteers.
Building on FRP’s experience over many years of working with volunteers, this project will develop new and innovative approaches to maximise the benefits of volunteer placements and improve the overall volunteering experience. Volunteers will access skills and activities based learning, capture their own learning and skills development, and be active in their local community to improve the environment and reduce carbon emissions. The project will focus on two beneficiary groups: unemployed young adults (aged 18-30) and marginalised adults on benefits.
FRP is looking for a Volunteering Development Coordinator to help us successfully shape and deliver this new project, and improve our volunteer programme.
The role
- Develop, manage and deliver the Environmental Action Through Volunteering Project
- Establish a structured skills & learning programme and progression routes for volunteers, significantly increasing volunteer numbers and working in partnership with others
