Training opportunities

At FRP we make it a priority to create interesting and worthwhile opportunities for volunteers to develop their skills. We believe everybody can learn something through volunteering. This practical experience with FRP can be very useful to;

  • Help develop confidence and social skills (soft skills),
  • Give new and varied skills to add to a CV and talk about in an interview,
  • Provide evidence of reliability and commitment to a future employers,
  • Increase environmental awareness which will help save natural resources, and money.

PRIME PROGRAMME

At The Paint Place we are currently running a 12 week programme to enable volunteers to record what they do and what they learn from this by creating a written and photographic portfolio.
During the 12 weeks The Paint Place staff will ensure the volunteers take part in all the different tasks at the warehouse and have the opportunity to work with the driver and at the ReUse Centre paint shop. The skills covered include soft skills such as;

- Team work
- Problem solving
- Self-management, i.e time keeping.
- Sharing skills

and Practical skills such as;

- Manual Handling/ warehousing
- Identifying paint types
- Understanding of different paint uses/surfaces
- Assisting the driver/ drivers mate.
- Customer service/ retail
