Get Upcycling competition - announcing the winners



On Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May, Forest Recycling Project ran an exhibition at The Mill, 7-11 Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, London E17 7HA, for entries into Get Upcycling, a furniture recreation competition, which had been running since April 1st. The competition saw entries from across London. The unique furniture was displayed alongside creative work highlighting the need to be resourceful with waste materials.

The upcycled entries were judged carefully according to design resolution, inventiveness of upcycling and overall appeal by Penny Fielding from the Walthamstow shop Beautiful Interiors and local maker & designer Jonathan Thomas aka Walthamstow Dad.

Here they are the winners:

Professional category

  • 1st Hinchee Hing / ‘REST’ skateboard chair - 07799 142 101 [email protected]
  • 2nd F-A-C-E / wooden benches made from scaffolding boards - 07927 005 789
  • 3rd ‘The Mill’s Tin Tin chair’. We need to check with The Mill, the name of the person who created it.

Amateur category

  • 1st Chris Dolan / ‘Niamh’s toy cooker’ made from a bedside cabinet - [email protected]
  • 2nd Clive Mahoney / ‘Globe’ lamp
  • 3rd Michael Rolfe

People’s Prize

  • Isabel Simons won the People’s Prize with a child’s chair which is being donated to the Mill’s honesty library - 020 8521 9147

All winners received a one year FRP RePaint membership as well as other donated prizes.

Selected winning pieces will remain on display at The Mill until Thursday 14th June.
