frp:refreshProfessional web design and development for community and voluntary groups, at less than market cost. Co-incidental to the recycling work we do, we have a wide range of in-house skills which include Web design and development. We have over 25 years experience working with the internet which includes web developments for the BBC, the NHS, The Post Office, Nat West Bank and many small and medium sized businesses. Case Study 1 - The FRP web site Using this skill, in January we re-launched an improved version of this site: the one you are looking at now, and we realised that if we could do this for ourselves, why not do it for other not-for-profit groups. The old one was very plain and boring and looked like this
Before the re-launch, we were getting 96 hits a day and 9 individual visits. After the re-launch we were getting an average of 1174 hits a day (with a high of 2651) and 47 visits (with a high of 102) and these figures are continuing to increase month on month. We haven't done anything to advertise the site. The increases are purely because the site is more search engine friendly and because we have improved it's usefulness. The site is much more attractive, more user friendly, and now has added functionality with an online ordering facility for Fairtrade goods. People like it better and use it more. Case Study 2 - The Give or Take web site This is a site developed to increase our contribution to minimising waste and to encourage people to re-use rather than throw things away. The concept won an AOL Innovation award.
It's a fully dynamic database driven site that incorporates postcode searching, security measures to stop spam bots, and a content management system for clients to use without having to know HTML. And it's being used exactly as we had hoped when we came up with the idea and designed it. It's a useful resource that people return to repeatedly: 90% of visitors are returning to the site from a bookmarked link, and nearly 25% of all new visitors are adding us to their bookmarks. This site has become so popular we are building versions for a number of councils elsewhere in the country. Contact us if you'd like to have your own. Why upgrade a site? Increasingly the internet is being used as a primary marketing tool. An effective web site raises your profile both to the community and to potential funders. As we know, these are often bodies that are geographically distant, are unable to visit applicants, and have a restricted amount of information on which to base a decision. An attractive and informative web site helps to better express the nature of your organisation. What we can do We can redesign your site, build it for you, improve it's functionality, make it easier to find, and sort out your hosting. If you want or need, we can even build a site from scratch.
And we can do it at less than market rates.
